JOB PURPOSE:
The Supervisor will help to develop and manage an emergency
accommodation programme in Mid-West Simon Community. The post holder
will lead and motivate a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring that
the service provided through Mid-West Simon Community are high
quality, based on best practice models and responsive to the needs of
homeless individuals. The post-holder will promote the Mid-West Simon
Community?s vision, principles and objectives.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:_ _
STAFF MANAGEMENT
* Work closely with Project Workers, community mental health teams
and the social inclusion mental health team to support service users
to achieve the goals set down in their support plan.
* To engage with clients to provide regular and practical support
and promote independent living.
* To assist clients in gaining access to the resources they might
otherwise not be aware of.
* Ability to pass information methodically between community
healthcare teams.
* To promote a trauma informed care approach to all work practices.
* To assist Project Workers with the development and co-facilitation
of all meaningful activity and social programme ensuring there are
structured therapeutic days and weeks for all clients.
* To lead and motivate staff and volunteers, including student
placement and CE staff.
* To set individual staff clear objectives and performance targets
and to regularly monitor their performance against these targets,
including regular supervision and appraisals of staff and volunteers
* To build relationships within private rented sector, Approved
Housing Bodies and Local Authority in order to secure swift move on
and appropriate accommodation for families
* To ensure adequate structures and systems of formal and informal
staff support are maintained.
* To ensure good communication between staff and volunteers by
holding regular meetings, ongoing supervision and by conducting
briefings as necessary.
* To ensure that staff and volunteers participate constructively in
the overall work of the team by facilitating an effective team
dynamic.
* To fully induct all new staff and volunteers and plan the
continuing development of existing staff including the promotion of a
positive approach to training and development.
* To operate disciplinary and performance procedures when necessary.
* Provide monthly reports to the Services Manager on all aspects of
the staff and volunteer functions within the programme.
SERVICE MANAGEMENT
* To interview, assess and accept, as appropriate, new intakes into
the service.
* Ensure service users actively engage in sourcing accommodation
using private rented, Approved Housing Bodies, Local Authority avenues
in conjunction with keyworkers
* Ensure that individuals take up all opportunities for health
improvement, training and personal development.
* Adopt a peer lead approach to training in harm reduction and
recovery principles
* Arrange and provide a full induction for all new service users.
* Ensure that staff are working effectively with individuals to
assist them to achieve their goals.
* Ensure that the project achieves the targets set out in relation
to the performance indicators and standards for the Project.
* To define and continually review the role of the service
* Monitor the housing outcomes achieved ensuring full use of all
available options, subject to individual needs and reasonable
preferences.
* Manage the Projects in an effective and efficient way ensuring
that individuals are familiar with and are complying with the
occupancy agreement.
* Ensure the efficient collection and management of accommodation
charges and arrears control.
* To anticipate move-on and to ensure voids are kept to a minimum.
* To promote joint working with other agencies and service providers
to enhance the range of options offered to families. To particularly
ensure that the service remains non-exclusionary, and that an ethos of
participation, activity and development is fostered.
* Ensure that the work of the service is fully documented and
reporting requirements are met in a timely and efficient fashion via
PASS as per SLA?s
* Ensure that expenditure is regularly monitored and maintained
within agreed budget levels, monitoring arrears, voids and bad debts
and ensuring prompt and appropriate action is taken in line with MWSC
procedures.
* Exercise appropriate control over expenditure to ensure, budget
adherence, providing and reviewing clear guidelines for staff.
* Maintain all internal administrative systems and records including
personal records, and recommend new procedures and policies as
necessary in consultation with Service Manager.
* To monitor and develop routes of referral consistent with client
needs. In particular, to liaise successfully with other agencies to
ensure the maximum level of access to more permanent accommodation for
individuals.
* To take responsibility for promoting and maintaining good
relations with local people and businesses.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
* Ensure that fire procedures and health and safety requirements are
understood by staff and volunteers and implemented in line with
legislation.
* Act as Deputy Fire Warden and First Aid person as required.
* Ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment for all employees,
individuals and visitors within the service
* Conduct all activities in a manner which is safe.
* Carry out risk assessments.
* Liaise as appropriate in respect of the management and maintenance
requirements of the projects meeting agreed response targets.
STRATEGY
* Regularly review the internal strengths and weaknesses of the
project and related and services agree action to improve performance.
* Contribute to the review and development of and gain support for
Mid West Simon Community's vision aims, principles and objectives.
OTHER
* To ensure the effective and efficient operation of a **Apply on the

* To represent Mid-West Simon Community at meetings conferences,
seminars and other events where relevant
* To project a positive image of the Mid West Simon Community at all
times.
* To maintain confidentiality on all matters.
* To adhere to all Mid-West Simon Community Policies and Procedures
currently in operation.
* Ensure effective communication through a range of means, with
staff and clients.
* Any other duties as may be from time to time requested by
management.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
ESSENTIAL:
* A minimum of three years? experience working in a similar role
within a social care setting.
* Degree in social care or a related discipline.
* Must have previous experience of working effectively within a team
environment, ideally in a leadership position.
* Excellent administrative, financial management and reporting
experience.
* Excellent understanding of Homelessness and related issues
* Knowledge and experience of a variety of services within the field
of social care, homelessness and social housing.
* Experience of contributing to the review and development of
services within a social care/housing setting.
* Candidates must be extremely motivated, highly organised and have
an ability to delegate effectively.
* Computer literate.
